Goals and Objectives - ODA Ohio Deflection Association

Promote the creation of Public Safety led diversion programs such as QRT/Outreach teams throughout the state of Ohio and nationally.
Develop and encourage the use of “Best Practices /Evidenced Based Models” in the implementation of these programs.
Advocate at the local, state, and federal level for necessary legislation and sustainable funding for these programs.
Facilitate greater coordination and networking between public safety led diversion programs.
Raise public awareness to promote these programs and reduce the stigma of substance use and professional belief systems that inhibit their creation and implementation.
Facilitate annual training and create a certification process for these programs
Develop strategies to enhance community partnerships and evolve existing belief systems.
Advocate and support greater integration and use of Peer Supports/Peer Recovery Coaches.
Bring awareness, education and prevention to different areas throughout Ohio and the nation
Establish standardize guidelines to enhance public safety response to the community’s safety needs
Standardize methods for implementing community partnerships
Create a best practices for QRT/outreach teams
How to help agencies who do not have a diversion/deflection program create one
