Join us for the Fourth Annual QRT, Outreach, & Deflection Summit hosted by the Ohio Deflection Association from January 22-25, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio. This 2.5-day conference will allow you to enhance your skills through main presentations, breakout sessions, networking and fellowship.
This is a time for all of us to gather in one place to teach, learn and grow together to further our Deflection efforts.

Call for Proposals Scholarship Application Voices from the Field Award Nominations Attendee Registration Mini Grant Application Hotel Booking for Summit The Deflection ECHO is intended to build a network and community for Ohio quick/overdose response/deflection teams. Medical first responders, law enforcement, peers, and treatment providers, etc are encouraged to join the monthly one-hour session designed to share promising practices amongst one another to help respond to what teams face in the field. The hour includes a brief informational presentation followed by consultation time so that teams can share scenarios or ask questions and learn from one another. Sign up now!
A primary role of the Deflection Initiative is collecting, providing access to, and disseminating information on promising and best practices. Our newly launched Knowledge Hub serves as a central location for resources, innovations, and programs that will promote progress, advance the field of deflection, and support teams around the state.
A document repository, deflection literature, and local and national resources can currently be found on the site.

Bridging Recovery & Interdiction Data Gathering Enforcement. The Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) in collaboration with other state, local and private entities are driving two statewide community outreach days called Operation BRIDGE Days. The focus will be a collaborative effort to identify resources and build partnerships between law enforcement and outreach within the community. The goal is to have participation in all 88 counties in the State of Ohio.

Operation Bridge “Bridge day was a SUCCESS! We had 120 people come through and get information and 23 agencies participate. It was a really good event. Next year we are going to hold it in Oakhill.”

Funding Announcments (COLUMBUS, Ohio) – The Office of Criminal Justice Services announces nearly $5.5 million in grant funding has been awarded to support efforts to reduce the impact of opioids, stimulants, and other substances on individuals and communities and to promote substance use awareness, prevention, and recovery.
Funding from the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program (COSSUP) will provide resources supporting the development, expansion, or enhancement of substance use deflection and pre-arrest diversion programs in diverse Ohio communities that are disproportionately challenged by high fatal and nonfatal overdose rates.
Agencies receiving grants to help fight the impact of drugs in their communities include:
Amberley Village, Hamilton County – $376,443.60 Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, Lawrence County – $418,316.96 Franklin County Office of Justice Policy & Programs, Franklin County – $838,866.10 Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, Lorain County – $449,615.20 Portage County Sheriff’s Office, Portage County – $369,609.28 Ross County Sheriff’s Office, Ross County – $128,072.10 Medina County Drug Task Force, Medina County – $241,975.72 Defiance County Sheriff’s Office, Defiance County – $117,821.11 Middletown Division of Police, Butler County – $115,776.64 Cordata Healthcare Innovations, Inc., Hamilton County – $355,715.22 Talbert House, Hamilton County – $792,744.70 The MetroHealth System, Cuyahoga County – $440,229.00 Northeast Ohio Medical University, Portage County – $587,996.44 Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office, Muskingum County - $205,062.41 Congratulations to all Teams and Programs that were awarded these grants. The ODA board approved the opening of the application process for any ODA member to apply for funding to support your deflection efforts—a limit of $1,000 per team/site in a calendar year.
b. ODA Mini-grant funding can be used for any “Deflection” related expense. Food, materials, contingency management items (e.g., gift cards), IDs, birth certificates, and whatever else your team might need.
c. Ohio teams/sites will take precedence in selecting the priority of application for funds.
i. With that said, all ODA members are encouraged to apply for funding. d. This is a reminder for all 2024 ODA Summit registrants that your registration includes a 13-month ODA membership until February 2025. e. Anyone not a current ODA member can update your membership for $25.
