ODA Quarterly Latest Deflection News & Information Ohio Deflection Association delivers support around public safety for the health and wellbeing of those struggling with substance use and mental health disorders. Through the development of deflection and pre-arrest diversion strategies, support tools and facilitating the education of community partners providing outreach services. Focusing on real life challenges with real time solutions by providing communities with education, guidance and resources.

2024 ODA Updates:

We are partnering with community providers to supply resources and aid to individuals and families in the community who are struggling with drug dependance, Mental Health issues, food insecurity and much more. This is an opportunity to help educate individuals with sexual health education information, local faith-based outreach teams and other supportive services.
OPERATION HOPE

Scotlynn Duff (Administrative Assistant) attended the Ohio Task Force Commanders Spring meeting at Hocking Hills State Park and gave a presentation Leadership Lorain County plans to “Toss the Stigma” of poverty, substance use disorder, behavioral health, and homelessness with a Community Day & Cornhole Tournament. Welcoming individuals and organizations from every corner of Lorain County, we’re blending fun and purpose to spotlight essential services and break down barriers.

QRT INVENTORY
We are working hard to account for all quick response and overdose response teams in Ohio with our QRT Inventory. We want to ensure that our information is comprehensive and that all of your voices are represented! The results of the inventory will inform our development of resources and materials, dissemination of best practices, and tailoring of training and technical assistance. The final report will also be available to participants. At the time of this writing, we have completed inventories with 42 teams in 36 of Ohio’s counties and have scheduled inventories in 10 more. We are still looking to schedule with Ashtabula, Lake, Ross, Pike, Highland, Mercer, Preble, Brown, and Hamilton. We are still looking for contacts in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Clark, Greene, Madison, Guernsey, Noble, and Mahoning to determine the status of teams and/or schedule. Bridging Recovery & Interdiction Data Gathering Enforcement.
The Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) in collaboration with other state, local and private entities are driving two statewide community outreach days called Operation BRIDGE Days. The focus will be a collaborative effort to identify resources and build partnerships between law enforcement and outreach within the community. The goal is to have participation in all 88 counties in the State of Ohio.

Available Funding Opportunities ohiodeflectionassociation.org With this solicitation, BJA seeks to develop, implement, or expand comprehensive programs in response to the overdose crisis and the impacts of illicit opioids, stimulants, or other substances https://bja.ojp.gov/funding/opportunities/o-bja- 2024-172128 a. The ODA board approved the opening of the application process for any ODA member to apply for funding to support your deflection efforts—a limit of $1,000 per team/site in a calendar year.
b. ODA Mini-grant funding can be used for any “Deflection” related expense. Food, materials, contingency management items (e.g., gift cards), IDs, birth certificates, and whatever else your team might need.
c. Ohio teams/sites will take precedence in selecting the priority of application for funds.
i. With that said, all ODA members are encouraged to apply for funding.
d. This is a reminder for all 2024 ODA Summit registrants that your registration includes a 13-month ODA membership until February 2025.
e. Anyone not a current ODA member can update your membership for $25.
